FAQ

  • I'm hiring a Mermaid, what do I need?
    We ask that there is a changing space out of view of guests that is accessible to the area you want set up. We dont want to ruin the surprise! Please have a reserved parking space for the performer(s) as we have a lot of precious things to carry.
  • What time will you arrive?
    Depending on what you have booked on the day, we will arrive min 1 hour prior to party. If you would like us to arrive earlier, additional fees will apply @ $125 per hour.
  • What happens if it rains?
    We always recommend a wet weather plan. If you decide to change your location, please notify us with a minimum of 2 hours before your start time.
  • Can we pause the entertainers for cake cutting and our own games?
    *All activities are performed as time allows. Your performer will do as many activities as possible within your time frame, based on your preferences. We never guarantee that any number of activities can be completed within any given amount of time.
  • Where can we have our party?
    Elkie Cove can come to any location on the Central Coast. If it is futher than 25km from Tuggerah, please ensure to send us an equiry first. We need to make sure that we have enough time to come from our other sessions to your location. Please ensure that you have a sufficient warm space for our mermaids. We dont like to get cold as we are warm blooded. We will set up a pretty little clam shell with lovely styling around her, so dont worry if you have it in a hall, or somewhere not fancy! We can make it look pretty!
  • Can we go to the beach?
    Yes we can! But remember the beach can get cold and windy. So please ensure to have a back up plan for not so nice weather conditions!
  • Can we do one on one Meet a Mermaid?
    Yes. We have one on one sessions during the week in the afternoons. Feel free to send us an equiry and we can organise something special!
  • What will happen on the day?
    Elkie Cove will arrive min 30 mins prior to party for setup. 🐚The birthday child is invited to sit inside the shell with our Mermaid entertainer and have photos and ask questions. 🧜‍♀️Entertainers escort the children over to initial party activities eg face painting, face gems, glitter nails, glitter tattoos. 🐚Mermaid story time with our mermaid. 🧜‍♀️Dance games – musical statues 🐚Entertainer escorts the children to get a photo in the photo booth, and then with the mermaid.
  • What happens if I would like to cancel?
    If you decide to cancel your booking without rescheduling and provide 30 days or more notice, you will not be charged the full amount of your party booking. If you provide 14-30 days notice of cancelling your booking (without rescheduling) 50% of your package price is to be paid. We appreciate your understanding as we have made it our priority to reserve your requested booking time.
  • How do we make it a surprise?
    We will require a private 60 mins for setup and changing. After the change occurs, guests may enter the room/yard. Once the mermaid is in costume she cannot walk anymore. At the end it will be the same process where guests must then be ushered out of the room for the mermaid to change into “human legs” and walk out of the facility.
  • Can I have bubbles for inside venues?
    Our bubbles are designed for outdoors, in a park or in your backyard. We will have lots of fun with all different types of wands and ropes and special nets, the kids will have a ball chase and popping. We can do bubbles inside, but its not as fun and requires drop sheets (which will incur a fee) Please tell us if you wish to do bubbles inside. We also need a grass area that is free from obstacles, as we want it to be save when children run and have fun!
  • Will my bubbles be GIANT bubbles?
    Please be aware that our bubble success will depend on the weather. Please note we have special nets for different conditions, and will try to make amazing bubbles, but we can not guarantee this activity will go ahead in some weather conditions.
  • What times of the year can I have a Mermaid?
    Due to being warm blooded we will be running our Mermaid Sessions from October - March for out door events and all year round for inside events with air conditioning.
  • Picnic Hire - Terms and Conditions
    Equipment is hired to you in clean and undamaged condition. The equipment must be returned in the same condition as it was received with the exception of the plates and bowls which will be cleaned by Elkie Cove as part of the hire fee. There is a minimum security bond of $100 on all hires. It is refundable when the items are returned as per our Terms and Conditions. If any item is not returned or returned damaged you may be charged for the full retail value of that item. Damage is defined as the item no longer being fit for purpose. The standard hire period is 1 day unless otherwise stated on the order confirmation. Late fees will be charged at $100 per day. A collection fee of $50 will be charged if the order does not include delivery and there was no previous arrangement with Elkie Cove for the collection of the equipment. Equipment must only be used for its intended purpose. If you have requested and paid for delivery, you must be available to receive the equipment at the agreed time and address. If you have requested and paid for styling, the area must be available and ready for the stylist at the agreed time and address. Elkie Cove does not accept responsibility for any injury or damage to property that may result from the use of the hired equipment.
  • What happens if we have stairs, steep driveways and no allocated parking ?
    If you have stairs, steep driveways and no allocated parking, additional fees will be charged as this will take longer for us to set up and pack down. The fee will be cover two people - at an hourly rate of $125 per hour.
